Film for Underwater Photography

When it comes in the type of film you should use in your underwater photography. The opinions are various. Many underwater photographers have moved onto digital cameras, and therefore this is a moot point for some, but for those who are still using traditional underwater cameras and traditional film, the type of film you use can be important according to the type of shot you're taking.

Many of the experts are going to recommend that when it comes to the speed of your film it's well above 100. Basically what they're trying to say is that you need to catch all the nuances that are there in the water, and the faster speed film you use, the faster it will capture the images clearly. This means that purchasing 100 film for your underwater adventure is only going to give you basic shots and you can miss out on a lot of the beauty.

Also, the amount of light has a lot to do with the type of film you're going to use in your underwater photography session. In other words, if you're shooting in shallow water stay away from the more expensive 400 film, you won't need that much speed or saturation in the film. Instead, look to a 200 level for shallow places. It's also recommended that if you can at all get underneath your subject and shoot upwards or at least level, shooting downwards makes for dark photos.

According to the light that you're going to be using your point and shoot type camera may be setting off a flash when you really don't need it so make sure you purchase one that has the option. Often times the bright sunlight pointing through the water will allow debris to interfere with your photo, so watch the amount of light, as well as the speed of film you're going to be using.

There's no doubt that you're going to enjoy underwater photography, and it's just a matter of trial and error as to what type of film to use. You'll find plenty of expert's advice on the Internet, just type in underwater photography film and you'll see a variety of suggestions and uses. They're also going to offer you a variety of different photography tips for your underwater adventure, and if you read a bit, you're bound to get great shots.

If you're really serious about your underwater adventure and photography it's time to take an underwater photography class. They're online classes easy take direct from your home that will allow you to learn how to take good shots and choose good underwater film even if you're not the water. You might just be surprised how convenient and informative these underwater photography online classes can be and how much you enjoy taking pictures of an alien world.
